What Is Meditation?
Buddhist meditation practice is a spiritual discipline in which the individual sits quietly and concentrates on their breath. Specifically, Buddhist meditation instruction requires the individual to sit on a pillow which is placed on the floor or the individual can sit in the comfort of an easy chair.
Once they are sitting with her back straight, the arms are slightly curved so that the palms of the hands are face up in front of the individual. Once the individual is ready to meditate, they began to accomplish this practice by concentrating on their breath. Specifically, the individual pays attention to the breath as it is brought into the lungs and then expelled out through the nostrils.
Generally, individuals new to this meditative process can count to ten as their breath is being expelled. Usually, the benefits of a meditative process can be accomplished in a matter of 15 minutes.

There are many purposes and benefits associated with the Buddhist meditation practice. First of all, the purpose of practicing meditation is for the individual to learn about themselves, their spirituality and how they interact with the world at large.
In addition, there are some personal benefits that the individual can achieve by performing Buddhist meditation practice. Some of those personal benefits include the individual becoming more self-aware, happier, gaining wisdom and becoming more peaceful.
Also, there may be some health benefits associated with the practice of meditation. Some of those health benefits could include the reduction of stress. In turn, this reduction in stress can help to alleviate any strain on the stomach due to secretion of excess acid.
In addition, through Buddhist meditation practice, the individual may be able to calm their mind. This in turn will help the individual to be less stressful and anxious about life.
